Hmm, ok, so I removed pruning from this section. _________________ There are only 10 kinds of people in this world:

Linux has some really fun games.
I think the main problem are that people allready have their favourite game and are not willing to give them up for something else.
Also gaming is a social thing and therefore people are hesitant to move to a new operating system which will cost them their gaming communities.
If dual booting is advertised more then people will be less hesitant. |

True a lot of people are unwilling to "lose" their games, but in my time on linux, not only have I still been able to play a majority of my games (copywrite protection makes things a bit difficult sometimes) but I've found new games to play such as the hardcore gaming types: Cube (and it's successor, Sauerbraten), Warzone 2100 and down to the little games that provide amusement for hours, such as Critical Mass (aka critter.)
Another upshot to playing Windows games on linux is the fact that you have much better control over your gaming environment. My Half Life 1 on wine outperforms a Windows Half Life because I can kill any non essential processes and switch to a very basic X session. It's fun squeezing more and more juice from a processor _________________ [root@localhost ~]$ /etc/init.d/social_life start

An interesting find was Frets On Fire, It's a python based Guitar Hero clone. I thought Guitar Hero was a stupid idea when I first heard of it but it's actually a lot of fun. The game only comes with 3 songs but I've downloaded over a hundred songs that I really like so It gives you a lot of choice, also, I'm using the xbox360 usb Guitar I got from a friend with it and it works great |
